How to find a cheaper flight

The same flight is often sold by the airline and by several travel sites at different prices. Comparing Booking.com, Aviasales, Expedia and Agoda side by side shows you the lowest fare before you book, and Destination.chat sends you straight to the provider at its normal price.

Look at the total, not the headline fare. Checked bags, seat selection and payment fees can change which offer is cheapest, especially with low-cost airlines, so open the final booking page before you decide.

Flexible dates help too. Flying midweek, avoiding school holidays or choosing a nearby airport can bring the same trip down noticeably. Our free True Flight Cost calculator adds up bags and extras, so you can compare the real price.

Flight Booking FAQ

Which site has the cheapest flights?

It depends on the route and the dates. No single site is always cheapest. The same flight can cost different amounts on the airline's website, Booking.com, Expedia or Agoda, which is why it is worth comparing before you book.

Do I book on Destination.chat or with the provider?

With the provider. You choose an offer here and book on the airline's or travel site's own website. The booking, payment, changes and refunds are handled by that company.

Does it cost more to book through Destination.chat?

No. You pay the provider's normal price. Some links are affiliate links, so we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Why is the final price higher than the fare I first saw?

Bags and extras. Many fares, especially on low-cost airlines, do not include checked bags, seat selection or payment fees. Compare the total price for all passengers on the final booking page.

When is the best time to book a flight?

Earlier for busy dates. For school holidays, summer and festive periods, booking well ahead gives more choice and better fares. Outside those dates, comparing a few days either side often finds a lower price.

Can I get compensation if my flight is delayed or cancelled?

Often, under EU rules. Under EU Regulation 261/2004 you may be owed up to €600 per passenger for an arrival delay of three hours or more, a late cancellation or denied boarding, depending on the distance and the reason. AirHelp can check your claim.
